Do not test it yourself with water. Send us a photo and tell us what the label says, because getting this wrong is how expensive rugs are ruined.

Can you clean a Persian or hand-knotted rug?

Yes, with dye testing first. Older natural and early synthetic dyes can bleed, and once a red has run into an ivory field it cannot be reversed. We test a hidden corner before any moisture reaches the visible surface, and if the dye is unstable we tell you and discuss the options rather than proceeding and hoping.
