Stain Removal Melbourne

One Stain Does Not Need a Whole-Room Clean

Plenty of people book a full carpet clean because of a single mark in the middle of the lounge room. Often that is not necessary, and a targeted spot treatment costs a fraction of it.

What matters is whether the stain has soiled the fibre or dyed it. Soiling comes out. Dye damage, bleach marks and heat-set damage do not, for anyone, and no product on the market changes that.

We will tell you which one you have before you spend money. If a spot cannot be removed, we would rather say so and discuss patching it than take payment for a treatment that was never going to work.

Send a photo first

Describe what was spilled, roughly when, and what you have already tried. Previous scrubbing with a supermarket product is often what set the stain, and it changes our approach.

What You Get

What Is Included in Every Clean

Every job runs the full process. There is no stripped-back version at a lower price that skips the steps that matter.

Stain identificationWhat it is and how old it is decides the chemistry entirely. Guessing makes it worse.
Fibre and dye testWool, synthetic and the carpet dye all tested before treatment.
Residue removal firstPrevious DIY product is removed, because it often blocks the treatment from working.
Targeted chemistryProtein, tannin, oil and dye stains each get a different agent, not one all-purpose spray.
Heat and dwell controlSome stains need heat, some set permanently with it. Getting this wrong is irreversible.
Extraction and rinseThe dissolved stain is extracted out, not spread into a bigger faint circle.
Blend into surrounding pileThe treated area is groomed so it does not end up as a clean patch on a dull carpet.
Removable vs Permanent

Which Stains Actually Come Out?

The most useful thing on this page. Here is the honest split.

Usually removable
Usually permanent
Coffee, tea, wine
Tannin stains respond well
Unless previously heat-set
Food, milk, vomit
Protein stains, enzyme treated
Rarely a problem
Grease and oil
Solvent pre-treatment works
Old oxidised oil is harder
Bleach and cleaning product
Colour is gone from the fibre
Needs patching or dyeing
Pet urine, repeated
Surface yes, underlay is harder
May have dyed the fibre
Heat and iron marks
Fibre has melted
Patching is the only fix
Short version: if the fibre still has its colour and something is sitting on it, we can almost always get it out. If the colour itself has been removed or the fibre melted, no cleaner can fix that and patching is the honest answer.
Our Process

How We Clean, Step by Step

A spot visit usually takes 20 to 40 minutes.

1

Send a photo and the story

What was spilled, roughly when, and what you have already tried.

2

Identify and test

Stain type, fibre type and dye stability all confirmed before anything is applied.

3

Remove previous residue

Old DIY product is lifted first, because it commonly blocks the real treatment.

4

Apply targeted chemistry

Matched to the stain group, with controlled dwell time and heat.

5

Extract and rinse

The dissolved stain is pulled out rather than spread into a wider ring.

6

Groom and blend

Treated area groomed into the surrounding pile so it does not stand out as a clean patch.

When to Book

Common Stains We Are Called For

Red wineThe classic. Very treatable when fresh, harder once someone has scrubbed it with hot water.
Coffee ringsA tannin stain. Responds well unless it has been heat-set by a steam mop.
Pet accidentsSurface marks treat easily. Anything that reached the underlay needs enzyme work.
Grease and oilNeeds solvent pre-treatment. Water alone spreads it into a larger halo.
Bleach spotsColour loss, not a stain. Cannot be cleaned out, only patched or dyed.
Old set-in marksAge matters more than size. Anything under a week old is usually straightforward.

Stain Groups

How We Classify Stains

Different chemistry for each group. Using an all-purpose spray on all of them is why DIY attempts fail.

Tannin
Wine, coffee, tea, juiceAcidic treatment. Never apply heat first, which sets them permanently.
Protein
Milk, food, vomit, bloodEnzyme treatment at controlled temperature. Heat cooks protein into the fibre.
Oil-based
Grease, cosmetics, tarSolvent pre-treatment before any water goes near it.
Dye
Ink, fake tan, food colouringReducing agents, results vary a lot by fibre and are never guaranteed.
Biological
Pet urine, mouldEnzyme and antimicrobial treatment. See pet odour removal.
Damage
Bleach, burns, heatNot a stain at all. Colour or fibre is gone, so repair is the fix.

Common Questions

Stain Removal Melbourne FAQs

How much does stain removal cost in Melbourne?

From $60 for a single spot, from $90 for up to three in the same room, and from $120 for a whole-room spot sweep. There is a $120 minimum call-out. If you already have a carpet clean booked, adding spot treatment is from $40. You get a fixed itemised quote before we begin.

Can you remove every stain?

No, and we will tell you before you pay. If something is sitting on the fibre we can almost always get it out. If the fibre has lost its own colour, from bleach, a cleaning product, or heat, then no cleaner on earth can put that colour back, and the honest fix is patching.

Does it matter what I have already tried?

A great deal. Supermarket spot removers leave residue that blocks professional treatment, and scrubbing with hot water sets tannin and protein stains permanently. Tell us exactly what you used and we will remove that residue first.

Is it cheaper than cleaning the whole room?

For one or two marks, yes, considerably. For several marks around the room a full clean is usually better value, and it avoids leaving clean patches on a carpet that is dull everywhere else.

Can you get red wine out?

Usually yes, especially if it is recent and nobody has poured hot water on it. Red wine is a tannin stain and responds well to the right acidic treatment. Older wine that has been scrubbed is much harder and we will assess it honestly.

Will the treated spot look different to the rest?

That is exactly why we groom the treated area into the surrounding pile. On a carpet that is dull throughout, a perfectly cleaned spot can stand out, and in that situation we will recommend cleaning the whole room instead.

How long does the spot take to dry?

One to three hours for a treated area, since we use far less water than a full room clean.

Can you treat stains on stairs and upholstery?

Yes, the same approach applies. Upholstery spots are priced similarly and we test the fabric first.

What about old stains?

Age matters more than size. Anything under a week old is usually straightforward. Marks that have been there for years may lift partially rather than completely, and we will set that expectation before starting.

Do you cover my suburb?

All of Melbourne metro plus Geelong and surrounds. Call 0436 389 114 if you are unsure.
