Mattress Cleaning Melbourne

You Spend a Third of Your Life on It

A mattress absorbs a surprising amount of sweat every week, plus skin cells, body oils and whatever the kids or the dog bring with them. None of that vacuums out, which is why an older mattress smells stale no matter how often you wash the sheets.

Dust mites feed on shed skin and thrive in exactly that warm, humid environment. Their waste is one of the most common indoor asthma and eczema triggers, and it sits centimetres from your face for eight hours a night.

Hot water extraction flushes the lot out. We inject heated solution into the top layers and vacuum it straight back out, lifting the mites, the residue and the staining rather than pushing it deeper into the fill.

Worried it will stay wet?

We use a controlled low-moisture pass on mattresses and finish with air movers, so it is dry in 4 to 6 hours. Book a morning slot and you will sleep on it that night.

What You Get

What Is Included in Every Clean

Every job runs the full process. There is no stripped-back version at a lower price that skips the steps that matter.

Inspection and fabric testWe check the ticking, the fill type and any existing damage, and test a hidden panel before we start.
HEPA-filtered dry vacuumA dry pass first lifts the loose skin cells and dust-mite waste rather than turning them into mud.
Targeted stain pre-treatmentSweat, urine and blood each need different chemistry, so they are worked individually, not blanket-sprayed.
Hot water extractionHeated solution injected into the surface layers and immediately vacuumed back out, carrying the soil with it.
Anti-allergen sanitising rinseA low-residue sanitiser that targets dust mites and bacteria without leaving perfume behind.
Deodorising treatmentNeutralises odour at its source instead of masking it with fragrance.
Speed-dry passAir movers over the surface so you are back in the bed the same night.
Professional vs DIY

Can You Not Just Do It Yourself?

Supermarket sprays and a home vacuum have their place. Here is honestly where they stop working.

Professional hot water extraction
DIY spray and vacuum
Removes dust mites and their waste
Yes, flushed out and extracted
Surface only, the waste stays in the fill
Reaches urine soaked into the fill
Yes, enzyme treated then extracted
Masks the smell, it returns in humidity
Risk of over-wetting and mould
Controlled moisture plus forced drying
High, a soaked mattress can stay damp for days
Removes cleaning residue
A neutralising rinse pulls it back out
Residue stays behind and attracts new soil
Time and effort
About 45 minutes a mattress, and we do it
Hours, usually for a disappointing result
Cost
From $89 a mattress
Cheap up front
Short version: a light freshen-up between cleans is fine to do yourself. If someone in the house has asthma or eczema, or there has been a urine accident, the difference is not cosmetic and DIY will not get there.
Our Process

How We Clean, Step by Step

Six stages per mattress. Most take 40 to 60 minutes, and we can do a whole house in one visit.

1

Free quote, fixed before we start

Tell us the bed sizes and any stains or smells. You get an itemised price that does not change on the day.

2

Inspection and fabric test

We check the ticking and the fill, and flag anything that will not fully lift before we begin.

3

HEPA dry vacuum

The loose layer of skin cells and mite waste comes off dry, which is what makes the wet stage effective.

4

Pre-treat the problem areas

Sweat lines, urine rings and blood are each treated with the right chemistry and given time to work.

5

Extraction and sanitise

Heated solution injected and vacuumed straight back out, followed by an anti-allergen rinse.

6

Deodorise and speed-dry

Odour neutralised at the source, then air movers so it is dry in 4 to 6 hours.

When to Book

Signs Your Mattress Needs Cleaning

It has never been doneIf the mattress is over a year old and has never been professionally cleaned, it is overdue. Sheets only protect the very top layer.
Waking up congested or itchyA blocked nose, sneezing or eczema that is worse in the morning is the classic dust-mite pattern.
A stale smell you cannot shiftBody oils and sweat oxidise inside the fill. Washing the sheets does nothing, because the smell is not in the sheets.
Visible sweat or urine marksYellow-brown rings mean it has soaked past the surface. It needs extracting, not scrubbing.
Someone has been unwellAfter illness, sanitising the sleep surface matters more than anything else in the room.
You bought it second-handAlways worth a clean before the first night, whatever the seller told you.

Mattress Types We Clean

The fill decides how much moisture is safe. Getting that wrong is how a mattress ends up damp inside for a week.

Innerspring
Traditional coil mattressesThe most forgiving type. Handles a full extraction pass and dries quickly through the open spring layer.
Pillow-top
Padded upper layerThe soft top holds the most sweat and skin, so it gets the deepest pre-treatment and the slowest extraction pass.
Memory foam
Visco-elastic foamLow-moisture method only. Foam holds water, so we use less solution with more extraction and drying time.
Latex
Natural and synthetic latexHandled like memory foam, with a pH-neutral solution so the latex does not degrade.
Cot & kids beds
Children and nurseryFragrance-free, low-residue products only. This is the job we are called out for most after toilet training.
Hotel & commercial
Short-stay, motels, aged careVolume pricing, after-hours scheduling and a fast turnaround between guests.
Stain Removal

Mattress Stains We Treat

Tell us what it is and roughly how old. Fresh accidents lift far more completely than ones that have dried and set. For pet accidents on the bed, see pet stain and odour removal.

Common Questions

Mattress Cleaning Melbourne FAQs

How much does mattress cleaning cost in Melbourne?

Ours start from $89 for a single and from $109 for a double, with queen from $119 and king from $139, and a minimum call-out of $120 that covers up to three mattresses at the same address. Most people book two or three beds at once because the travel is the fixed cost, not the cleaning. You always get a fixed itemised quote before we begin.

How long does a mattress take to dry?

Four to six hours in most homes. We deliberately use a lower-moisture pass on mattresses than on carpet, and finish with air movers over the surface. Book a morning slot and you will be sleeping on it that night. Memory foam and latex sit at the longer end because the fill holds moisture.

Does it actually get rid of dust mites?

The combination of heat, extraction and an anti-allergen sanitiser removes the mites and, just as importantly, the waste they leave behind, which is the part that triggers asthma and eczema. No treatment keeps a mattress mite-free forever, because they return with normal use, so every six to twelve months is the realistic cycle for an allergy sufferer.

Can you remove urine stains and the smell?

Usually yes. Urine soaks past the surface into the fill, so spraying the top does nothing lasting. We treat it with an enzyme that breaks down the salts causing the smell, then extract it back out. Old, repeated bed-wetting that has reached the core is the hard case, and we will tell you honestly on arrival if a full result is not realistic.

Is it safe for memory foam?

Yes, with the right method. Foam holds water, so we use a low-moisture pass with less solution, more extraction and longer drying rather than the full flush we would use on an innerspring. Tell us it is memory foam when you book so we schedule the extra drying time.

Do I need to be home?

Someone needs to let us in and point out the problem areas, but you do not have to stay. Strip the beds before we arrive if you can, and we will handle the rest.

Is it safe for children and asthma sufferers?

Yes, and it is the main reason people book us. We use biodegradable, low-residue products and can go completely fragrance-free on request. Cot and childrens mattresses are done fragrance-free by default.

How often should a mattress be cleaned?

Every 12 months for an average adult bed, or every 6 months if someone has asthma, eczema or hay fever, if pets sleep on the bed, or for a child still having accidents. A mattress protector extends that interval but does not replace the clean.

Do you clean both sides?

Where the mattress can be safely turned and the underside is accessible, yes. Many modern pillow-tops and heavy king mattresses are one-sided or too heavy to flip safely, in which case we put the full process into the sleep surface.

Can you come the same day?

Yes, subject to availability, seven days a week including public holidays at no premium rate. Morning calls can often be done the same afternoon.
