What you do in the first sixty seconds decides the outcome far more than which spray you use. Blot, never rub, and work from the outside of the spill inwards.
Heat sets some stains permanently
Steam mops and hot water on wine, coffee, blood or anything protein-based can cook the stain into the fibre. Cold water first, always.
Supermarket sprays leave residue
Most leave a sticky detergent film that then grabs every bit of passing dust, which is why a treated spot turns into a darker patch a month later.
Some marks are not stains at all
Bleach spots, heat damage and sun fading are colour loss, not soiling. No cleaner on earth can put the colour back. Patching is the honest fix.
