Ripples Do Not Mean the Carpet Is Finished
A carpet that has gone wavy across the middle of a room looks like it is failing. It almost never is. It means the carpet was not properly tensioned when it was laid, or it has relaxed over time and needs re-tensioning.
South Yarra is really two suburbs in one. There are the period terraces and townhouses in the streets off Domain Road, and there are the apartment towers of the Forrest Hill precinct behind Chapel Street. The cleaning problems in each are completely different.

Why has my carpet gone wavy?
Either it was never properly power stretched when it was laid, or it has relaxed with humidity and traffic over the years. Both are normal and both are fixable. It is very rarely a sign that the carpet itself has failed.
Will the ripples come back?
Not if it is power stretched properly and the underlay and gripper are sound. If a carpet has been stretched before and rippled again, the underlay or gripper is almost certainly the real problem, and stretching over failed underlay just buys a few months. We check both and tell you.
Do I have to move the furniture?
No. We clear the room and put everything back afterwards. That is included rather than an extra, and it is part of why a room takes one to two hours rather than twenty minutes.
Is it dangerous to leave ripples?
They are a genuine trip hazard, particularly for older people, and the raised ridges wear far faster than flat carpet because every footstep lands on the crest. Leaving it long enough turns a stretching job into a replacement one.
Can you clean an apartment on a high floor?
Yes. We run hoses from the truck where the building allows it and use portable extraction where it does not, which covers the towers around Forrest Hill and Chapel Street. Tell us the floor and whether there is a service lift when you book so we bring the right setup.
Do you need a certificate of currency for my building?
Most South Yarra apartment buildings do require one from any contractor. We carry public liability insurance and can send the certificate through before the job. Sorting it when you book avoids being turned away at the loading dock.
